MAGAZINE ANALYSIS

This is a magazine analysis of Beloit magazine analysis.

This cover is a college magazine of a student in a science lab. The camera shot is mid-shot which shows a student conducting an experiment. This shot is very effective as it clearly represents the college well as it shows the student really focused on the work and she looks as if she is enjoying what she is doing which is why the college chose this picture to represent this.

Also, behind the student there are science equations etc. blurred out but yet still visible which suits the theme of the magazine and also adds emphasis to the ‘science theme’ on the cover.  There are also props present in the shot which are also still in the ‘science theme’ which is very effective as it doesn’t distract readers as the covers main focus is on science.

The font used in the title of the magazine is bold and large, this is very effective as it stands out and catches the reader’s attention and it also makes the readers aware of the college name. It uses a white colour for the text as it suits the colour and it is not harsh on the cover. This colour used softens the large bold title.

The clothes the student is wearing is appropriate and effective as it conveys to readers that the students at Beloit are not stereotypical ‘white lab coat’ science students but individual and unique students who get to be who they want. This picture projects to the readers that studying at Beloit it is not typical formal student. This is effective as it changes the perception of the readers. Therefore this magazine cover is very effective as it projects their college well.
